Stonington Publishers
Stonington Publishers is committed to publishing services for traditional book forms of the written word and to art related books and prints.
We are particularly interested in publishing works which combine written and visual dialog.
Bill Connell knows from personal experience the importance of chasing down the details necessary to bring a fine publishing project to completion, and he provides this expertise to clients in search of a publisher. His knowledge coupled with his creative energy and his enthusiasm make him an ideal partner in producing that book, poster, art print or other publishing venture that you are dreaming of.
William Connell - artist, publisher, author
Before moving to the Berkshires, William Connell was a long time resident of Stonington, CT. In addition to his silk-screening, he paints in oils and sculpts. He has studied at the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts and Rhode Island School of Design. His work has been exhibited in shows throughout New England.
William Connell’s art engenders active involvement in local community affairs. The Stonington Fair posters are done in support of the yearly village fair, which in turn raises funds for the Stonington Community Center. In Western Massachusetts Mr. Connell has brought together community and preservation groups with artist organizations to preserve farm land and to celebrate the Housatonic River. His artwork and community organizing efforts are artistic conduits to express and influence community values and goals.
He states his personal artistic challenge as follows, “To use the visual imagery of landscapes to incorporate the sounds, smells, texture, and taste of what I see – to integrate the senses through visual imagery. A secondary goal is to bring the viewer into the painting and awaken perhaps ancestral and universal experiences.”
