Stonington Fair Posters, 1978-2007

30 years of Stonington summers as portrayed in posters designed annually for the Stonington Fair by William Connell

Stonington Fair Posters A book entitled, Stonington Fair Posters, 1978-2007, by William Connell is set for publication in June 2007. In addition to images of all thirty posters the book contains comments from friends of Stonington relating to the posters and the annual fair. The fair is held on the village green the first Saturday in August, at the peak of a warm and gentle sea coast summer.

The poster images capture the timeless summer sights and colors of Stonington. The comments taken from interviews tell of the significance Stonington, the fair, and the poster images have in the lives of people, families, and friends. Stonington families remain connected across generations and around the world through the annual poster images.

The introduction tells how the poster work began, who encouraged the idea, how the designs are inspired and created, and newspaper accounts of posters and billboards and their importance to the Stonington community. The images of the original art are all presented in full color. The book is published in hard cover and printed on fine art quality paper.

All books from the first printing will be signed and numbered by the artist/author, William Connell.
